Horrific. After months of searching for a pediatric place to take my daughter, I decided upon this place. Big mistake my appointment was at 10am. I inquired at 11am about how long it would be until we were called back. I'm guessing the doctor was just late, Because it wasn't that busy. I picked doctor Kammilah Barnett after, again, lots of research and out of all, the positive rave reviews. At about 11:15am I inquired again and told them, I would probably just have to reschedule, because my baby is on a schedule and I knew she was getting hungry. Ironically that's when I was called to the back.
The nurse was meh. She gave me paperwork that I needed to fill out on top of telling me to undress my baby. Once I undressed her, I proceeded to try to fill out the paperwork in which she didn't even put it on the Clipboard, that was provided for the patient. She just sat it on the table in which my daughter was laying at, and directed me to the pen and clipboard. She kept using the phrase "friend" with me, which im not your friend. And quite frankly, I just don't like how she talks to babies. I think she thinks it's cute to be snarky with them, it was a weird encounter.
After my daughter's weight and height were taken.I was told yet again I would have to wait for the doctor. I was done, waiting at this point. I gave her 15 minutes, and she had not come to the room. So I decided to leave, this is clearly not the place for me and my daughter it's honestly giving ghetto. I'm extremely disappointed, and now I have to go on a quest again to find a pediatrician for my daughter.

I have been in support of this practice for 20+ years as my oldest children are grown. We always loved Dr. Hammad, Platner and Charles-May. However, Dr. Hammad has retired and Platner on vacation and there are now new pediatricians there for my 3 year old who was suggested that she had autism by Dr. Barnett. We started fine with getting the referrals but even that was a wild goose chase of finding providers for the evaluations that were recommended by Dr. Barnett. Frustrated enough as a new parent of an autistic child, it came recommended by the pediatric psychologist that it was a good idea to have our child’s primary care provider to prescribe Leucovorin, a VITAMIN supplement. Excited to reach back to Old Fourth Ward (formerly Dr. Hammad, Platner and Charles-May), I knew it would be easy to have this prescription done for our child because out of 20 years, we have NEVER been declined as such. Well, today was the first ever! Dr. Barnett had these long drawn out excuses to not prescribe the Leucovorin. How do you go from acting as if you want the best for my child only to cause the parent to run into yet another wall!!! It took 1.5 months to get our child evaluated by a pediatrician psychologist and now you mean to tell that our chosen primary care physician is going to say NO to writing a prescription for vitamins? She then told me it was my child so I could certainly find another doctor and do what I wanted to do. Wow! Another slap in the face after supporting this office for 20+ years and now we have to take more time to research another pediatrician office, contact Tricare to change our primary care provider, set an appointment with the new provider and then ask for this vitamin to be prescribe in hopes it have not run out by then! If a psychologist suggests that many of her patients are using it for their child but to have the primary care physician to draw bloodwork and monitor the red blood count cells, then what is the issue? Why not prescribe it and help the parent monitor the child’s health throughout the time of taking it. How many vaccinations are new but they are quickly being injected in children? It is one thing to not have evidence of the results but it’s another thing when that particular medicine has barely any reports of harmful side effects! I would have never expected this practice to cause more of a delay in giving us some relief or at least peace of mind for our autistic child after having to make appointments for speech therapy, occupational therapy, feeding therapy and ABA therapy. But I am sure as soon as the doctors can get a kick back on this prescription, things will change but for now, no one cares because it could cause therapists and doctors to be out of money or perhaps it is a political thing as many as said. I don’t know but I do not appreciate a doctor not doing ALL that she can do!

Very detailed and communicates directly. She’s inclusive, she didn’t just think of what she wanted to do as a solution, she offered a couple of ways to handle to situation and we went with what gave us the most solice; yet, we went with made my son feel better.

We had such an amazing experience with our son's 2 year visit with the nurse practitioner who was on duty on 8/15/24. I can't remember her name off top of my head, however, she was absolutely the BEST I've ever seen or had since I've been there! Very warm, very compassionate, very knowledgeable, very advising! Loved her. Wouldn't mind seeing her on a consistent basis! But overall, this practice is very welcoming. We've been coming here since my son was born because this was my husband's pediatric office when he was a kid and wanted to keep it that way. Great staff! Keep doing what you're doing for the community!
